Performance Artist Trinity Tonight!

Wow- big day for performance art… We discovered an all-star trinity of recommended events tonight that will have you zipping to mid-town, the East Village and finally Lower East Side, all in name of performance art -sort of… (*drum roll*)

Nikki S. Lee, The Exotic Dancers Project

First off, as you know, we are big fans of photographer Nikki S. Lee since our post Nikki S. Lee Project Tracker, tonight the editors here will attend the WORLD PREMIER of Nikki S. Lee’s a.k.a. Nikki S. Lee at the Museum of Modern Art in New York at 6:30pm. The screening will be presented by Nikki S. Lee herself, or will it be someone else who looks just like her? You never know with Nikki S. Lee!! Anyhow her film is a kind of behind the scenes of the her life as the artist, who at the same time is making the film about herself -a conundrum I know, but bear with us, I’m sure it will be interesting to see how she pulls this off.

After the Nikki S. Lee film at the MoMa grab the 6 train or a taxi down to Anthology Film Archives in the East Village to catch Cory Arcangel’s performance/video??. I tried calling Anthology Film Archives and asked them what this performance is about and they seem to have no clue either, they just said that it might be 2-3hrs long. Not much is posted on Cory Arcangel’s site either, it’s a gamble, but one that’s worth not missing.

Once you’ve had enough of the low-tech madness that Cory serves up with his high-tech expertise, head further downtown to another free event at Tonic where the mysterious art group/band/publishers Lansing-Dreiden will be the main selectors tonight. L-D Section II will be spinning “booty-shaking gothic grooves,” oh and don’t forget to check their new exhibit opening later this month October 20th at Rivington Arms.
